My motorcycle quest

Life is short, you are not getting any younger, blah blah blah.

I decided I am getting my motorcycle license.  It has been on my bucket list for a while now, and I am almost ready to go for it.  I have driven a motorcycle before (30-ish years ago), so I needless to say, I have to start from scratch.

It's not an "immediate gratification" decision, so I'm not running out and buying a motorcycle yet, (though if the right one comes along, I would).  But I am not actively searching yet.  It's more important to get the right equipment, learn the basics, take the safety course and THEN decide on the ride.

The internet has tons of info for new riders and even older woman riders out there.  Also, my everyday car is approaching antique status and when it needs an overhaul (which is coming sooner than I want) I would like to have an alternate mode of transportation.  And, no, I don't want to sell or junk my Saturn which has been good to me for over 15 years and deserves to be restored at some point.  So it's practical to buy a bike.  I keep telling myself that, but I also know it would also be a blast!

Anyhow....
I have studied the PA Motorcycle Operators Manual for a few weeks now.  Yes, a few weeks.  My menopausal brain makes it more difficult to absorb and retain info, so what used to "take" in a couple of days now "takes" in a few weeks.

And, I will be going in for my permit soon and I hope the young kids there at the DMV won't be snickering at me.  Oh but seriously! I won't give a rats ass if they were!  I'm not retiring to a  motorized wheelchair any time soon  and I really need a pick-me-up at this point.

So there it is.  Midlife crisis or not,  I'm going for it!

UPDATE

So here it is one year later and I did it!  Got my license and my motorcycle!  See, you are only as young as you feel and I feel pretty young on my bike.  Well, just until I pull off my helmet and the young guys who think I'm a hot young girl see my face and realize I'm old enough to be their mom (or even grandmom in some cases!)

I even crocheted a helmet bag for my awesome helmet!
See ya on the highways!
